Birthday Drinks - James & Sirius

Sirius laughed when James pulled a face. He almost pointed out that he was becoming more and more like Moony everyday. It saddened him sometimes how much everyone was growing up, including himself, but what else could he do? Yet the prospect of growing up, though intimidating, was still exciting to him. They wouldn’t have stupid school rules holding them behind and they’d actually be fighting the good fight. Sirius took the bottle back and grinned at James. “Remember the first time we got drunk together?” Sirius asked, not sure if James recalled since it happened so many years ago. “The drinks were burning our insides but we refused to twitch our faces even an inch, seeing who’d be the first to lose.” The next morning they’d puked their souls away but it was still a fun memory.
James laughed as he took another drink. “Fuck yes. It’s as bad as that first week here when we let Wormtail in because he knew someone who gave him a cigarette. I think that we both realized when we prompty puked that 11 was too young, so we waited a few more years.” James and Sirius had been through a ton together. It had always been the four of them but he and Sirius were always close as can be. There was a reason they had the mirror. ”You know, I’m still not sure I like that there hasn’t been a Potter house started yet but I suppose I’ll deal.”

Sirius smiled as he dragged on the cigarette upon the appearance of James. He didn’t know why it surprised him that his friend was here. James had been extremely busy lately, they all had been. Not to mention Sirius and Lily were on the verge of murder most of the time now. But he knew Lily wouldn’t stop James from being happy with his mates, no matter how mad she drove Sirius. He waved his wand lazily at the bottle, causing the bottle to open. “No cups,” Sirius said, shaking his head, “cups are for pussies.” He grabbed the bottle by the neck and took the first swig, the fire traveling brilliantly down his throat. He handed it to James and wiped his mouth.
James nodded. “That’s true.” He went over to Sirius and watched him take a drink. Things were complicated lately. He didn’t know what to do about the whole thing with Lily and Sirius. It wasn’t that he really took one side over another but he knew Sirius didn’t always have the most tact. James didn’t either and it’d always worked. He could remember a time he and Sirius had been exactly alike but sometimes it seemed like that wasn’t the case anymore. James was growing up and it was happening fast and he could remember months ago, telling Sirius it wouldn’t happen. He then knocked back the bottle, cringing ever so slightly. “It’s been a bit.”
Birthday Drinks - James & Sirius

Even though it was already a few days past his birthday, Sirius was excited about sharing a couple drinks with James. He always had fun around his mate but being drunk made everything way funner. After walking into the empty dungeon classroom, Sirius set the new bottle of Ogden’s firewhiskey on a desk then pulled out a cigarette from his pocket, lighting it with his wand. He waited patiently for James, knowing they’d have plenty of time to mess with the Slytherins since James knew their password. He wondered if they’d run into Amycus Carrow and if he’d be able to kick him in the balls again.
James knew that he should have done more for Sirius and his birthday, but between studying, secret meetings with Dumbledore, being head boy and all of that, he was far too busy lately. He almost missed when he had been able to be a slacker. But gone were those days. James also wasn’t sure what to do about the Lily and Sirius situation but he was going to go meet Sirius and they’d have fun. They always did. He walked in. ”Okay I’m here. Now where’s the alcohol?”
